How to form the conditional in Spanish

The conditional in Spanish (as in related languages) is essentially based on the future tense form:

Conditional verb endings

The endings added to form the conditional tense are always the following:

PersonEndingExample
yo-íacomería
they'd eat
-íasvendrías
you'd come
él/ella-íapreguntaría
he'd/she'd ask
PersonEndingExample
nosotros, -as-íamoscompraríamos
we'd buy
vosotros, -as-íaisestaríais
you'd be
ellos/ellas-íanirían
they'd go

These endings are actually the same as the imperfect of -er and -ir verbs.
